Alka Tyagi, PhD
Prof. (Dr.) Alka Tyagi, a bilingual poet, researcher, and translator, has been teaching English at Delhi University for more than 20 years. To deepen her understanding of the Sanskrit texts she studied for her research, Dr. Tyagi pursued a second master’s degree, earning an M.A. in Sanskrit from Delhi University.
She has authored five books, co-edited two, and translated two books for Sahitya Akademi. Her research papers have been published in reputed journals.
Three of her poetry collections—Sun Ri Sakhi, Amaltaas, and Whispers at the Ganga Ghat—have also been published. Her most recent book is Reconstructing Devotion through Narada Bhakti Sutras.
A former fellow at IIAS, Shimla, she completed her monograph on Bhavana (Creative Contemplation) and Bhairava (Supreme Reality) in Kashmir Trika Shaivism, which is currently under publication.
Dr. Tyagi has been an ardent practitioner and exponent of yoga and meditation in the Satyananda Yoga tradition for over thirty years.
